Wilko store closures: Full list of 52 condemned locations revealed after rescue bid fails | Economic news

The locations of the 52 Wilko stores which will close after failing to secure a rescue deal have been revealed by administrators.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which was appointed to oversee the insolvency last month, said it remained in talks with parties interested in buying the business. remaining parts of the business.

On Tuesday, the rival retailer B&M has bought up to 51 more Wilko stores in a deal worth up to £13million.

Administrators added “it is possible that further store closures may unfortunately be necessary”, depending on discussions with remaining suitors.

Team members working in the affected stores will be made redundant.

Edward Williams, joint administrator, said: “In the absence of viable deals across the business, store closures and redundancies of team members in those stores are unfortunately now necessary.

“The loss of these stores will be felt not only by the team members who served them so dedicatedly, including through the uncertainty of recent weeks, but also by the communities of which they were a part.”
