2. I love spain but this spain squad is weak. Too many average players Ramos, Thiago, Nacho, De Gea, all deserved a call

7. a Pedri + Thiago & Rodri midfield would be much stronger than the Pedri + Gavi & Busquets midfield he's going to play, in my opinion. Ramos you could argue isn't better than Pau or Laporte but he's better than any of the backup options. i don't think the omissions really affect Spain's chances though. they're a quarterfinal exit team either way.

8. I feel like people that think Thiago should’ve gone don’t know his history.

   Thiago is very injury prone, like he’s was only not injury prone during the 2020 season and players had 4 months to rest. Him going to a tournament where they play 2 games a week, and being on a Spain side where they will probably make it to the semi finals, it’s just asking him to injured. Especially considering his talent, he would play most games but there’s a high chance he would be injured and now you have one less player and your system has to be revamped because you most likely expected him to be fit.

   Ramos is a good player, but he hasn’t been doing much at all since leaving real, he doesn’t look as fit, and he doesn’t have that hunger to win anymore.

10. Leaving your best CM out of the squad is baffling. But your loss is our gain here at Liverpool, as he’ll get a nice rest. Still feel bad for him though as he seems such a nice guy.

11. Nothing new here. Spain has always overvalued their own league over the others. Still, a hard argument to make for bringing Ramos, but Thiago's is pretty much one of the best MF in the premier league. The only possible reason is that he probably can't play that many games in that short period of time.

15. Luis Enrique would probably already know who his first choice centre backs are and maybe even his back up. And if you count guaranteed starters and others he might use, at least 5-6 out of the 26 men will probably not get a kick at the World Cup.
    I'd rather Sergio Ramos be one of them, as long as he is aware of his role on the team as a leader, especially given how young the squad is and how politically charged the circumstances around the World Cup seem to be. His experience to deal with the press, his experience in the locker room might be invaluable for young players in terms of preparation and recovery in international tournaments. Plus, you can use him for specific match situations like needing a goal in the last 10-15 minutes when the best chances are expected to come from corners, set-pieces or crosses, or a penalty shoot out. He has been Real Madrid and Spain's designated penalty taker in the past. In high pressure situations, you'd trust him to take penalties over the rather young squad they have.

25. For once I agree with Luis Enrique, it's better to win or lose with youngsters than veterans. Every team has to move on.

30. Ramos hasn’t been consistently playing for Spain for 2 years. I think he knows bringing Ramos only brings problems to his team
