Tui Airways’ first flights from Glasgow Airport to Sal via Cape Verde, described as having “sunny weather and miles of sandy beaches”, will begin on November 3.
The airport said the island in the Atlantic is “an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the archipelago”.
“Temperatures rarely drop below 24 degrees, even in the middle of winter,” it says.
The launch of the new route follows an additional commitment from the holiday provider to Glasgow.
Tui announced earlier this year that it planned to increase the number of aircraft based at the Scottish airport from four to six.
The airport is the company’s largest base in Scotland.
Tui chief executive Andrew Flintham said: “Glasgow Airport will see a significant increase in aircraft seats, providing more vacation time for those living in the area. »
Glasgow Airport said that “in the middle of the Atlantic, the exotic islands of Cape Verde offer an incredible diversity of landscapes and cultures in an archipelago of ten islands”.
He added: “Experience the ultimate island-hopping getaway on a Cape Verde holiday from Glasgow Airport.
“The most extraordinary thing about the Cape Verde Islands is the diversity of their landscapes.
Admire the tall black volcano that dominates Fogo (Island of Fire), experience an adrenaline-filled road trip in the interior of the Boa Vista desert, soak up the chic and azure atmosphere of Sao Vicente or enjoy a hike in the hills of Santiago. »
