22. The reality is Deschamps could never handle a player of the stature of Benzema. He was bigger than that whole French national team even with their world cup win of 2018. Most of the players in that French team's biggest accomplishment was winning that world cup in 2018 and so much of that is tied to Deschamps but Benzema could stand as one of the greatest of this game with no world cup title to his name. Karim knew Deschamps was just a mid-tier coach who was lucky to have some pretty talented players in 2018, he is no Zidane, Mourinho or Ancelotti.

30. Benzema is the current biggest big game player in the world, if you check the past 2-3 seasons. In Every big games he was mad clutch. and in 2022 he won every single trophy he played in, as top scorer and best player. He would have trashed Argentina, their CBs would be scared to death facing Benzema. Argentina are lucky Benzema wasn't there.

46. i m french and from Lyon, love Benzema to death but it would have not changed anything, at the end we still made it to the final, we got dominated by argentina in the midfield and intensity overall, their game plan suffocated us. Benzema would have not influenced much in that area and the Thuram and Kolo muani have been excellent substitutes. Useless to think ''if Benzema would have had that last shot'', if Benzema was playing maybe we would have lost the quarter final against England as Giroud would have not played.
