Newcastle increased the pressure after the break, however, and thought they had taken the lead when Wilson pushed them over the line, only for the game to be ruled out for a foul on Flekken. Moments later the keeper tripped Gordon to give away a penalty which was confidently dispatched by Wilson. The hosts were awarded another penalty late in the match for a Mbuemo handball, but VAR overturned the decision due to a foul on the striker just before.
