A convincing first Super Four victory for Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive defeat. They are still in the running but as mentioned before, it won’t be easy. Bangladesh started their chase positively but the overs from 11 to 20 were as Sri Lanka fought back and never let the opposition take command. Sri Lanka picked four wickets during this period, conceding only 37 runs. Towhid Hridoy (82) and Mushfiqur (29) added 72 runs for the fifth wicket but it wasn’t enough. Maheesh Theekshana, Dasun Shanaka and Matheesha Pathirana all picked three wickets each as Bangladesh were bowled out for 236.
