11. As I said before the spending spree, this way of buying overpriced stars in the winter and expecting results immediately is most likely destined to fail! The parallels to Hertha in Germany and there dealings on the winter market 2 years ago are blatantly obvious! They also had a new owner spent 200 million on transfers and everything exploded! The owner is gone and the club is fighting relegation!

    This idea of buying 5 new starters in winter and being competitive in the EPL is just insane! The quality in the league is just too good! Even a club like Leeds is strong enough to beat a team with 5 new players! Real life is not a Manager game. Chemistry and process on the training pitch matter! English media often forgets, that at the end of the day these expensive players are young human beings, who only perform if they feel happy and integrated. Imagine coming into that 30 man locker room as a young man for whom Chelsea just overspend— the baggage for the player is huge!

    I am not criticizing the quality of players, however since they are all young and new to Britain and its culture it’s insane to expect them to deliver immediately. Therefore I think the overall business strategy should be more in question than Potter!

31. Potter has proven so far to be an awful appointment. But I'm not convinced Potter is making these Chelsea players bad. Everything we see from Ziyech, Mount, Havertz et al is exactly what we saw under Tuchel. Overrated and not living up to the hype. Even Joao Felix looks the same Felix as we saw at Atleti, has good moments but full of inconsistencies and not good enough to carry a side. I'm past arguing for Potter to get more time, but I'm not sure Chelsea, for all the money they've spent, have a squad that can challenge under any manager. Maybe Mudryk and Mandeuke will progress into great players over time, but apart from Enzo Fernandez I don't see any player that would automatically go into Arsenal or Man City's team right now and I don't think you can blame Potter for that. The Chelsea owners should be getting a lot more grief from Chelsea fans but at the moment it's all Potters fault as though he appointed himself? It seems like Chelsea's fans are too afraid to offend their American owners despite the obvious fact they have zero experience running a football club and zero experience of football in general. When healthy Kova, Kante, Pulisic, Sterling, Felix, Koulibaly, James, Chilwell, Silva, Chalibouh is a lineup that will win games. Brining in too many youngsters from foreign leagues all at the same time is a recipe for disaster. You can accommodate only a FEW unproven players at a time.
