Joe Jonas filed for divorce from Sophie Turner on Tuesday after four years of marriage and two children.
The Jonas Brothers singer, 34, filed to end his marriage to the Game of Thrones star, 27, in Miami-Dade County Court in Florida.
The filing states that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
Turner, a Northampton native, played Sansa Stark for eight seasons on HBO’s Game of Thrones and played Jean Gray in X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
Arizona-born Jonas rose to fame with brothers Nick and Kevin in a band starting in 2005 and in subsequent Disney Channel series. They released their sixth studio album in May and are currently touring U.S. stadiums.
Turner and Jonas tied the knot in a secret ceremony at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on May 1, 2019, after the Billboard Music Awards. Country duo Dan + Shay performed at the wedding.
The couple had a daughter, Willa, in 2020, and last year, another daughter whose name they have not made public.
Jonas is seeking joint custody of the girls, according to divorce documents. The two had a prenuptial agreement that Jonas said will be enforced, according to the filing.
Representatives for Jonas and Turner did not immediately respond to requests for comment. On Wednesday, Turner and Jonas each posted identical statements on their Instagram accounts.
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the statement said. “There is much speculation as to why, but this is actually a joint decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
