England captain Harry Kane scored twice on his Bundesliga home debut for Bayern Munich as the champions continued their winning start to the season in the league.
Kane became the first England player to score in his first two Bundesliga appearances when he netted a penalty down the middle just before half-time.
The former Tottenham striker wrapped up the 3-1 win after the break with a fine finish with the outside of his foot.
Thomas Tuchel’s side dominated possession throughout.
“Great game today,” Kane said in a video on social networks After. “Scoring two goals in front of your fans was a special feeling.
“A lot of improvements are still to come, but starting the season with two wins is a great start, so thank you for your support as always.
“You know [I] I appreciate every single one of you in the stadium chanting my name, so look forward to next week now, recover well and keep going.”
After a slow start, Bayern picked up their pace and opened the scoring when Leroy Sane’s shot hit the post and hit defender Felix Uduokhai.
Referee Sascha Stegemann then awarded a penalty for Niklas Dorsch’s handball after being called in to check his monitor by the video assistant referee, Kane converting the kick with ease.
After the break Bayern looked much brighter, Sane curling a fine shot against the post, before Alphonso Davies found Kane in play and free in the middle to fire a calm finish into the net.
Substitute Dion Beljo broke free to provide late consolation for the visitors, while Kane wasted a chance to complete his hat-trick when he headed in the side.
However, he has now scored in his last seven league appearances, dating back to his Premier League spell with Spurs.
