5. We need to start veering away from clinging onto particular results especially in qualifiers. It was a great occasion but it didn't materialise into anything supreme after that.
   Germany were a poor side and yet still managed to reach the world cup final because of Kahn. England ultimately met BRAZIL and couldn't quite do the job.

9. A great result and a great game, but it was 20 years ago. The pre match chat on Ch4 before the game tonight was banging on and on about it yet again, it’s kind of embarrassing.

13. I remember this match. It was memorable so much at the time. Meanwhile we effectively flopped (that team should've gotten further than quarter finals) at the competitions, and this coupled with 2002 spurred Germany on to do an overhaul of their setup that won them several cups.

14. To be fair to Germany they got us back by smashing us 4-1 in the 2010 World Cup Round of 16. It was a result to enjoy whilst we could. Too many results have happened since then.

15. The amount of times Germany banged us up and we still HOLD on to 5-1 win like we won the world cup against them. Yo this happened when I was 10 and even heskey scored so that explains ALOT

21. I can't believe we bang on so much about this game. Don't get me wrong the performance at the time blew me away but imagine being German and seeing your nation lift the world cup 4 times second only to Brazil.

    Its a bit "small club" mentality this and Englands expectations should be about winning more world cups not isolated results against one of the worlds best nations.

    At least we won the war eh 😀
