Claire Sweeney reveals her Coronation Street character Cassie will have scenes with loyalists Michael Le Vell and David Neilson in the near future.
Claire Sweeney revealed that she was filming scenes with coronation street legends Michel LeVell (Kevin) and David Neilson (Roy) recently.
Earlier this week, Sweeney returned to the soap as Cassie, Tyrone’s birth mother (Alan Halsall) and Evelyn’s daughter (Maureen Lipman).
Cassie had gone off with Evelyn to try and get off drugs, but now that she’s back on the streets, she seems set to become a regular in Weatherfield and won’t waste any time getting to know the locals.
“Cassie has great scenes with Kevin because she wants to work in the garage,” Sweeney explained. “Michael Le Vell was a pleasure to work with.
“I also had some fantastic scenes with David Neilson. It was a real pinch moment to start working with him, just watching how he works. When you work with him and chat before the scene, he’s very articulate, really smart, really funny, really witty, and then he just becomes Roy, the physique and everything changes.”
Settling in with the rest of the Corrie cast, she continued: “I have to say, it’s one of the happiest jobs I’ve ever had.
“I want to say sincerely that it’s great to arrive in a place where I already had friends here. I know Tony Maudley (George) and Jodie Prenger (Glenda) who is lovely.
“And working with Alan and Maureen and those fabulous kids as well is really, really great. So I feel very lucky to be with this family.
“Working with Maureen is like a master class and Alan is so good too. And to top it off, I have such a great story!”
coronation street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. on ITV1 and ITVX.
