37. I’m Real Madrid fan, and I’m so happy Barcelona are back in Europa League. But, I feel really bad for Ousmane Dembele and Robert Lewandowski. They really put all their hearts in this game to see Barcelona through. Very sad.

39. Piqué has NEVER. Let me reiterate: NEVER been good. Not now, and not during our golden era. The only reason it wasn’t as obvious is because he used to have other strong CB’s to cover his errors (Puyol, Mascherano, and now Araujo). Putting this game aside, I would go as far as to say Piqué’s “leadership” or rather lack thereof have single-handedly cost us several UCL’s because our defense was weak in knockout games. It is for this reason Barcelona keeps infamously blowing leads. What’s worse is that our board keeps trying to put bandaids on the wound by buying midfielders and world class strikers hoping that will fix the problem, but it won’t. Messi, arguably the best player in the history of the game was not able to save this team from its atrocious defense (though he and Suarez came damn close several times) so how can we expect other strikers/ midfielders to do so? Anyone who knows football knows Pique is not a good player let alone good enough to be the captain/ CB for a world class team like Barcelona. He’s dead weight and I suspect Xavi knows this but is tied down by locker room and team politics. Compare games when Pique is benched to games he plays and those he’s benched and the team’s performance speaks for itself. We feel like a solid contender for the UCL capable of dethroning the current European champions, Real Madrid. The comparisons between Pique and Busquets people in the comments have been making are wrong. Busquets used to be the best center defensive mid in the world when he was young. Pique got into Barça because his grandfather was a former vice president and only obtained the captaincy because of how long he has been at the club, not because he deserved it either through skill or character (the rumors about him and Ravi’s mom are nothing short of shameful and the opposite of what a captain ought to be). If it seems that I am being too harsh on Pique, I am. I am tired of seeing our management take it easy on him instead of doing what any club would have done YEARS AGO to a player who is not at that club’s level.
