Caerphilly-born Dowden later said doctors had discovered another type of cancer and she had since been documenting her experiences, hoping it would raise awareness and encourage others to get tested.

She made a dazzling appearance at the awards ceremony at London’s O2 in a dusky pink dress with a fluffy full skirt, paired with a breast cancer awareness pin.

She was joined on the red carpet by her sister Becky, who wore a black dress.

Dowden will not appear in the next series of Strictly due to his diagnosis, but joined the cast onstage when the program won the talent show award.
